Fall From Divinity
Project type
Graphic Design
Date
2025
This work is Panel 3 from the "Fall Series."
The "Fall Series" was created while enrolled in Design Technology and Concepts, a graphic design course, at the University of South Carolina.
The assigned prompt instructed students to choose any particular word, and to explore the different definitions via four graphic design panels. I chose the word "fall" and created a series that explored four metaphorical definitions of the word. This work featured various historical figures and fictional characters.
Created with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
The "Fall Series" was displayed at the Founders Hall Gallery at the University of South Carolina Lancaster during a group exhibition that focused on student works from Design Technology and Concepts and Typographic Design I.

For this panel, I chose to focus on a "fall from divinity."
I chose to illustrate a Biblical figure, Lucifer, also known as "Satan" and the "morning star." He was an angel who had rebelled against God and attempted to usurp him. He questioned God, and arrogantly wished to become like him.
For his pride and arrogance, he was punished, and he fell to Earth. He became a fallen angel, and later, ruler of the Christian Hell. He once danced in divinity, for the Divine. I chose to explore his downfall.
Instead of portraying Lucifer ruling over Hell, I decided to portray Lucifer falling from the Heavens. The colors used, such as purples and indigos, represents him falling through the clouds, and through the twilight.
I chose to portray him as a tragic fallen angel rather than a hideous Devil. I also chose to show Lucifer with a torn wing, rather than a full wing, to represent his downfall.
He fell from the stars, though he was once one. Ultimately, he fell from divinity due to his arrogance.
